Rev. Ubani Encourages Obi Aguocha: Have the Fortitude to Recognize That Abia Thrived During Orji Uzor Kalu’s Leadership.
Reverend Chika Ubani, a cleric hailing from Abia, has urged Obi Aguocha, the representative for the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, to possess the fortitude to acknowledge the significant accomplishments of former Abia State Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu, during his administration from 1999 to 2007.
In a discussion with journalists on Tuesday, the cleric advised the lawmaker to refrain from making remarks that could unnecessarily inflame the political climate and potentially jeopardize the stability of the state.
In reaction to a statement made by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ben Kalu, Obi Aguocha (LP, Abia) remarked: “As you are aware, for nearly 24 years, this is the first time Abia has witnessed substantial advancements in leadership and governance.”
Rev. Ubani responded by stating: “Like many others from Abia, I was taken aback and filled with skepticism upon reading his statement. Hon. Aguocha’s late father had previously likened the achievements of former Governor Orji Uzor Kalu from 1999 to 2007 to those of the former Imo State Governor, Dee Sam Mbakwe. At my age, I have no personal stake in defending Orji Uzor Kalu, but the late former Commissioner Aguocha regarded him as an effective governor. It is disheartening that Obinna (Aguocha) lacks the courage to acknowledge the accomplishments of the individual his father once praised.”
