So, a judge just said it’s cool for a bunch of folks to get fired. It’s like they’re gonna be let go en masse. Crazy, right? This is definitely going to affect a lot of lives, and probably not in a good way. But hey, that’s the way the cookie crumbles sometimes.

Where Things Are At

So, about those job cuts: A judge in D.C. said “nope” to unions trying to stop the Trump gang from slashing a bunch of federal jobs. But even though he let Team Trump keep going with their plan, he totally showed in his decision that he’s not cool with it. He’s got some big worries about it all.

Federal agency downsizing: The IRS has started giving the boot to over 6,000 employees. And get this, the CIA is planning to show a bunch of folks the door, especially those working on getting new blood in and mixing things up in terms of diversity, according to some old-timers. This could turn out to be the biggest round of pink slips the agency’s ever seen! The TSA didn’t get left behind either; they’ve fired 243 folks who were still in the training wheels phase of their jobs. Four different agencies got the word to slim down to the absolute bare bones, only keeping enough people to cover what the law says they have to do. And this bit about the HUD is wild: they’re looking to slash the team that helps fix up homes after disasters by more than 80 percent. Yikes!

F.B.I. new boss: The Senate has officially given the thumbs up to Kash Patel, a big supporter of Trump, to keep an eye on the FBI. This guy’s got a history of throwing some serious shade at the FBI, so it’s no surprise the Democrats weren’t thrilled about it. But they couldn’t stop it; only two Republicans joined them in voting no. So now, he’s in charge.

McConnell calling it quits: The main man in the Senate for the longest time, Mitch McConnell from Kentucky, just said he’s not going to run again in 2026. Dude’s been in charge of his party for 18 years and had a knack for playing the game, always finding ways to block whatever the Democrats were pushing for. And, oh yeah, he just had a birthday—turned 83!
