A Pediatrician Explains the Benefits of Breast Milk for Adults.
A medical professional specializing in pediatrics, Dr. Efunbo Dosekun, has disclosed that breast milk is beneficial for adults as well. In an interview featured in TheSun newspaper, Dr. Dosekun emphasized the importance of breast milk for adults, stating that it contains valuable elements that contribute to a healthy adult life. She urged individuals not to overlook this opportunity, highlighting the potential for both traditional and modern practices to coexist.
Dr. Dosekun noted that various cultural methods exist to enhance lactation, alongside modern scientific equipment and herbal remedies that can support this process.
She further encouraged mothers to prioritize breastfeeding over artificial milk, asserting that breastfeeding not only provides essential nutrients to infants but also fosters a strong emotional bond between the mother and child. This bond, referred to as attachment, is crucial for the child’s emotional development and has been linked to reduced mental health issues later in life. Children who are breastfed tend to exhibit fewer behavioral problems, lower rates of addiction, and improved academic performance.
In terms of physical health, Dr. Dosekun explained that breast milk is rich in carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and vitamins, along with additional components that bolster the infant’s immune system. She highlighted that the immune system develops over time and that breast milk contains specific factors that support this growth. These include beneficial bacteria that enhance the immune response, particularly during the initial days of life when the infant’s immune system is still maturing.
