– Valencia are aiming to avoid a fourth straight defeat on the road

Atletico Madrid host city rivals Real Madrid on Sunday while early pacesetters Barcelona are also in action as they head to Pamplona to face Osasuna.

We have previewed every fixture from the eighth round in Spain’s top flight.

Valladolid vs Mallorca (Friday, 8pm)

Valladolid have claimed just two points from their last three matches but they are unbeaten at home and can stand firm against Mallorca. The visitors have won three of their last four but might have to settle for a share of the spoils.

Score prediction: 1-1 draw

José Bordalás and Getafe are finding things tough after their title challenge last season

Getafe are in big trouble and could struggle to repel Alaves, who put up a fight in a 3-2 away loss to Real Madrid on Tuesday. Alaves have won three of their last five matches while Getafe are winless.

Score prediction: Alaves to win 1-0

Rayo Vallecano vs Leganes (Saturday, 3.15pm)

Rayo Vallecano are a tough nut to crack in Vallecas and the hosts can edge to a narrow win over a blunt Leganes side. Vallecano have beaten Osasuna 3-1 and held Atletico Madrid to a 1-1 draw in their last two at home.

Score prediction: Rayo Vallecano to win 1-0

Real Sociedad vs Valencia (Saturday, 5.30pm)

Real Sociedad have made a poor start to the season, winning just one of their seven LaLiga matches, but Valencia might not be good enough to pounce. The visitors have lost three in a row on the road so this looks a decent opportunity for La Real.

Score prediction: Real Sociedad to win 2-1

Osasuna vs FC Barcelona (Saturday, 8pm)

Barcelona can extend their lead at Osasuna. The Catalans have averaged 3.25 goals in four LaLiga away fixtures and could fill their boots against a home team who have shipped ten goals in their last five.

Score prediction: Barcelona to win 3-1

Celta Vigo vs Girona (Sunday, 1pm)

Girona have regressed after last season’s shock title bid and look vulnerable in Vigo. Hosts Celta have suffered back-to-back losses but they’ve won three of four at home despite failing to keep a clean sheet.

Score prediction: Celta Vigo to win 2-1

Athletic Bilbao vs Sevilla (Sunday, 3.15pm)

Sevilla have found some form to win two of their last three but a trip to Bilbao represents a tough test. Athletic have won four of their last five in LaLiga and earned a solid away point against Roma in the Europa League on Thursday.

Score prediction: Athletic Bilbao to win 2-0

Real Betis vs Espanyol (Sunday, 5.30pm)

Real Betis should be able to edge an entertaining clash with Espanyol. The hosts have won two of their last three at the Benito Villamarin while Espanyol have scored in defeat in their last two matches.

Score prediction: Real Betis to win 2-1

Atletico Madrid vs Real Madrid (Sunday, 8pm)

Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid face a stern test at Madrid rivals Atletico

This Madrid derby could be a classic. Atleti claimed four points against their more illustrious rivals last season and are unbeaten so far this term. Los Blancos, meanwhile, have scored at least twice in their last five matches. Expect action at both ends.

Score prediction: 2-2 draw

Villarreal vs Las Palmas (Monday, 8pm)

Only Barcelona have beaten Villarreal this season and the Yellow Submarine should earn a fifth win in eight at the expense of Las Palmas. However, the visitors have scored in six of their seven games and can make their mark.

Score prediction: Villarreal to win 3-1
