A Rivers State High Court has issued an order prohibiting the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its top officials from conducting a congress in Rivers State until a pending lawsuit is heard and resolved.

The injunction affects the National Chairman, National Financial Secretary, National Organizing Secretary, and any other representatives of the party.

The court’s decision effectively halts any plans for a congress in the state, ensuring that no party activities related to the congress will take place until the legal matters before the court are fully addressed.

The lawsuit, which prompted this ruling, remains unresolved, and the court has emphasized the importance of addressing the legal issues before proceeding with any party congress activities in Rivers State.

The PDP is expected to conduct state congresses nationwide on July 27, 2024.
